When I talk to clients about continuous improvement, I talk about most people experiencing it in two halves.

Imagine a needle on a gauge. The first half is about moving from bad to ok. Past the halfway point, the gauge indicates ok through to amazing.

continuous improvement journey
The typical continuous improvement journey for most of us!

For many people the first part of their continuous improvement journey is all about fixing things that don’t work properly. Once they get past the fire fighting and chronic problems, they can move into being more creative with their continuous improvement ideas.

Help with the first part

If you find yourself still in the first phase (bad to ok), then let me share with you an approach that I use with my consulting clients – the sunrise meeting.

This is a short daily meeting that:

  • Focuses the team on their key priorities.
  • Aims to achieve success at each stage in your process.
  • Can boost the performance of your product, project or service delivery.

Last week I created a video for our Fraction ERP business, explaining how the two can work together. I thought it would be useful to share it here as it gives a good overview of this approach.

I hope that if you are still in the first phase of the continuous improvement journey that you can use the sunrise meeting approach to accelerate you into the second phase.

Enjoy!
